FEBRUARY 2021 THE CAROLINIAN

  Editor: Lora Castello NFCnewsletter19@gmail.com

President's Message

Pauline Trautman

Welcome 2021: I hope this year brings us good health and an end to COVID 19.
New Friends will be entering its 32nd year with the announcement of our Nominating Committee which was delayed by a month due to members having to meet so soon after Christmas & New Year with Covid 19 being very active at this time. The Chairperson for this committee will be Jean Rottmann. The Elected Board positions are: President, Vice President of Membership, Vice President, Luncheon Programs, Secretary, Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, and Webmaster.
If you would like to be more involved in our great club please contact Jean Rottman Jadamom912@aol.com or cell: 516-578-2600 to express your interest.

There will also be Standing Committee Positions available, please contact Pauline Trautman if you are interested in being a Standing Committee chair. Paulineletso44@gmail.com or cell: 704-507-5680. I know there are many talented ladies out there who we would enjoy seeing fill these positions.

As we start this New Year, remember if you sign up for an event, please be courteous and let the interest chair know if you are unable to attend. I was at a couple of events last year and we would be waiting for someone to turn up and they were a NO SHOW without any contact to cancel

VP of Membership
Susan Brandenburg

Thankfully the New Year has brought a vaccine for Covid. Hopefully our members will be able to get the vaccine and our groups will begin to meet again. When you are ready, we are ready for you! I certainly miss seeing all of you. If you are out and about and meet new ladies be sure to invite them to give us a look. New Friends of Carolina is a great place to make new and lasting friends.

Our Speaker will be, Adam Pharr Natural Resource Ranger at Crowders Mountain State Park
Companion peaks at Crowders Mountain State Park—The Pinnacle and Crowders Mountain—offer challenging hikes, towering cliffs and 25-mile views of the surrounding piedmont. Eleven trails range from pastoral to strenuous, including the Ridgeline Trail, which links to Kings Mountain State Park and Kings Mountain National Military Park in South Carolina. Backcountry camping is featured with individual sites approximately a mile from parking areas. The rugged terrain of Crowders Mountain lends itself to rock climbing and bouldering with a permit in designated areas. A visitor center with museum-quality exhibits complements regular interpretive programs.
