On Sunday, May 2 at 2 pm, the Hooks-Orr American Legion Post 235 of Matthews, NC will do a brick placement ceremony to honor/remember veterans from the town of Matthews.
The Veterans Advisory Committee has commissioned a brick in memory of Tom Cannon, husband of Barbara Scott-Cannon, who served as their chair before his passing on January 31, 2021.
You are invited to attend the ceremony at Stumptown Park 120 S. Trade Street in Matthews.
James Estes, Regional Representative for U.S. Senator Thom Tillis, has had a part in this ceremony.
Please bring your lawn chairs for your comfort as the estimated duration of the ceremony is 30-45 minutes.
