Subject: Book Lovers Future
From: New Friends

Good evening Book Lovers,

This year is starting to look like it, too, will be a year of changes in our lives.

As we contemplate how to  limit the participants in our group  and still remain the welcoming group that we have been in the past, I am adding more to the plate.

I have taken a Board position at Assistance League of Charlotte. I will be heading up our Philanthropic programs. I am very excited to be taking this position but sad to be leaving Book Lovers. ( our Board meetings are the same day and time as our book group).

But wait.....there is more.  ( isn't there always?!!).

As Joan and I were discussing alternatives to reducing the size of our group, this idea was born.

Joan stays on as Chair of the current book group.

I will chair another book group in Newcomers.

Both groups will read the same books/in the same months.

The cut off limit for each group is 15 participants.

This will give us a total of 30 participants but not all at the same time.

The groups will be smaller and more manageable for  both discussion and size of our residences. Most members  have downsized and cannot accommodate our larger group.

We will meet in December as one group. It would be a wonderful time for all of us to be together and we will figure out where we can meet with such a large group.

For Book Selections  we could have 3-4 members of each group meet in March/April  to choose books for the coming year.

The day/time:  Third Tuesday of each month from 1-3. (1:00- 1:30/social and 1:30-3:00 discussion). Perhaps the morning time is not convenient for all members. I checked the calendar and I don't see any conflicts with this day for other groups).

No one is ever thrilled with change but sometimes change finds us anyway. We have had members expressing for awhile that our group is getting a bit too big. Most of New Friends activities have cut offs for participants so we are not reinventing the wheel.

Your responsibility:

RESPOND to this e mail.

If you like the idea, let us know.

If you don't like the idea, then tell us what your suggestion/solution is and we will share it with our members.

Thank you.
Susan and Joan
