Good Day Friends,
Drama Queens Chair Barbara Lowrance has secured 17 tickets for the 70th Annual Singing Christmas Tree performance for Saturday, December 12th at 3:00 pm at the CPCC Dale F. Halton Theater. This classic celebration of holiday entertainment will present all your favorite Christmas music from inspirational to family favorites and much more. Check the NFC calendar online for more details. The date is now open to accept registrations and payments. Tickets are $45 and there are no refunds. It will be up to you to find a replacement if you cannot attend.
We are looking forward to seeing you for our luncheon September 26, at Cause for Tea. For added fun, please feel free to don your favorite hat or fascinator for this event. You never know what Monica has up her sleeve! For your ease, there is handicap parking available at the back of the house. There is also a ramp to enter. However, since this is an old house, there is no elevator to the second floor. You will need to use the center staircase to access.
The impact of last minute cancelations and "no-shows" to an event offered by New Friends has far-reaching effects. Some of the consequences of a member not canceling in a timely manner or simply just not showing up for an event are:
- The interest group chair who promised 20 people and 11 show up to a restaurant is embarrassed.
- The restaurant manager who has hired extra staffing to serve the group is not happy.
- The wait staff who depend on tips are denied needed money in their pockets.
- The reputation of NFC as not being able to deliver on promised numbers of people jeopardizes requests to use this restaurant in the future
- The NFC members on the waitlist who desired to attend this event are sad and disappointed.
- The game event needing a set amount of people to play has to cancel and disappoint those who were registered to play and, again, waitlist members missed the opportunity to substitute
Yes, we all have emergency situations from time to time. That is perfectly understandable and acceptable, howevert the cancelations levels of late right before the event is really problematic. Please let's enter our fall season with a more mindful attitude about the consequences of our behaviors. Sign up for what you know is reasonable for you to handle each month. Cancel in a timely manner so another member may take your spot. And never be a "no show"; cancel online or call, text, or email your host or interest group chair.
The restrictions on registration for Mexican Train each month are lifted. Members may sign up for more than one daytime session.
Mah Jongg has been taken off the calendar due to low attendance.
