Operation Joy
Go Jen Go has 20 families wanting to have a great Christmas and NFC is taking on 3 of them. Each family member was asked what 3 gifts they desired. A total of 36 gifts were listed by the NFC-sponsored families, including the 3 women with cancer diagnoses, 1 husband, 1 grandmother, 6 children and one baby being born in October. The gifts range in cost from $7 to $150. Most of the gifts can be purchased on Amazon. Link to bios and gift list.
In addition to the Christmas gifts, each child is to get a stocking and each mom is to get a care bag containing comfort items needed especially during treatments. Thus, 7 stockings and 3 care bags will also be provided by our club.
The organizational structure to fulfill Christmas wishes of the families will be implemented through NFC’s 24 interest groups. Interest group chairs will view the gift list which includes the names of the family members with their short bios. Chairs will select one or two gifts for their group to purchase. While larger interest groups like Brews & Bites could choose larger ticket items or multiple ticket items., smaller interest groups of 12 participants for instance could donate $10 per member which adds up to $120 to support the purchase of two gifts. We realize a member often attends more than one group a month, and it would be her choice to participate in one or more.
As soon as a chair makes a gift selection, notify Susan so we have no duplicates. Each chair should send a message to all members who are signed up to let them know about the project and the selected gifts so they can bring a donation to your gathering. Messages can be sent through the website or by your personal email. We want to have the collection complete by Thanksgiving so it would be super helpful if the chairs start collection in October. If your group picks an item or items and you don’t collect enough money, it’s no problem as “extra” funds from other groups will make it work. Chairs can make the purchase themselves, wrap the gifts and get them to Lisa or Susan. If you are unable to make the purchase, get the money to us and it will be used to purchase your group’s gift.
If any NFC members do not attend an interest group and want to participate, they can fill a stocking or care bag or select an item off the list. We will provide the stocking and care bag to be filled.
