Weekly President’s Message
December 9, 2024
Good Day Friends,
We are looking forward to seeing you at our December 19 luncheon. Santa will be hosting a lively gift exchange. If you bring a gift, you will receive one in return. However, your participation is optional. The gift should be in the amount of $25.00. Please no gag gifs, candles, fragrances, food, or wine.
In continuing to highlight the local artwork of Chas Fagan, I would like to share that Charlotte's Trail of History displays two more of his bronze sculptures. The Spirit of Mecklenburg by Fagan featured last week in the weekly message was the first of 21 existing or planned statues along the trail, which is meant to be a museum without walls for residents and visitors to our region. Likenesses of Thomas Spratt and King Hagler by Fagan are located on a section of Little Sugar Creek Greenway across from the CPCC's campus. The bond between these two men was fundamental to establishing the Charlotte region in the 1750s. Their friendship led to peace between European settlers and the Catawba Indian Nation. Chas Fagan will be discussing his fascinating career and work on January 8, at 10 am, at the Southpark Regional Library as a part of the "In the Know" series of events chaired by Barbara Evers. Fagan is one of Charlotte's most distinguished artists. Don't miss this very special opportunity. Registration is now open on the NFC website for this offering.
As of this writing, there are 19 slots left for the Elvis NFC Social to be held Saturday, January 11, from 6 to 10 pm, at The Villas at Heritage Clubhouse. Begin the evening indulging in delicious hors d'oeuvres, then Elvis will perform for 1 1/2 hours with games & prizes following the entertainment. BYOB and the price of the evening is $30 per person. "Don't be cruel" to yourself, grab this opportunity for fun! 1950's apparel is optional, dress in what is comfortable for you. Join the celebration of Elvis turning 90!!!!
