Good Day, Friends,

Back in the July 2024 newsletter, the word "minga" coined by the people of Chiloe Island was introduced.  Minga is the sharing of essential tasks for the common good without expectation of reward.  The spirit of minga is alive and well in NFC as exemplified by one of our newest members.   Audrey Herman is launching a new interest group March 31, called Helping Hands.  She will work with organizations that need hands-on assistance like Promising Pages and Bright Blessings to offer monthly opportunities to our members to work for the common good.  More details will be forthcoming.

The search is on by the chair of this year's Nominating Committee, Lora Castello, for new leaders to take spots vacated by elected officers of New Friends.  Please be a person with minga in your heart willing to put your leadership skills into action for the good of our organization.  Call, text or email Lora by February 25th if you are interested in working on behalf of the women of NFC.

This month is brimming with opportunities provided by your minga-filled interest group chairs working to provide activities just for you.  Our second Welcome Coffee of the year is February 6, where interest group chairs will introduce NFC activities to new and prospective members.  Marie Shea is facilitating an "In the Know" session on a variety of retirement issues on February 12, with expert presenters in the field sharing their knowledge.  Don't miss this important informational session.  Join the fun at the Bonefish Grill for the "NFC Loves You Luncheon" which will be full of surprises!  May you all enjoy the fruits of minga this month offered to you by your sister members.

Getting to know you...
Tanya Wells
If money were no object, I would... After taking care of myself, family, and friends, I would either make deserving retirees financially comfortable or help other non-profits with addressing dire social and/or environmental needs.

My biggest Pet Peeve is... Rude, unempathetic people.

What are you most grateful for?  My health

Where did you grow up and what was your favorite subject in school?  I grew up in Central Florida and my favorite subject in school was literature.

The place that I've traveled to that I would love to visit again is...  I generally prefer traveling to different places, but wouldn't mind traveling back to Europe (France, Italy, Germany, Spain)
