Weekly President’s Message
March 17, 2025
Good Day, Friends,
Those who went to Salisbury last Monday are so grateful for the efforts Travelers Chair Mickey Key and a team of board members (namely Webmaster Jeanne Deiger, Calendar Manager Cyma Kline and Treasurer Jean Rottmann) expended to put this trip together. Over 20 registrants thoroughly enjoyed this experience, from viewing marvelous artwork to absorbing information on the historic trolley tour.
Brews & Bites Chair Sue Howard reminds registrants that the March 24th event will be held at the original Suffolk Punch location in Southend. The address is 2911 Griffith St., Charlotte, NC 28203. There are two gravel parking lots for this location, one is next door at Norfolk Hall. Be sure you only park in lots marked for Suffolk Punch. Believe me, from one who knows well, you do not want your car towed away!
Matinee Madams Chair Karen Mockler is announcing that the new live action Snow White movie will be the selection for Thursday, March 20, at the Cinemark Bistro Charlotte on 9630 Monroe Road. Movie time is 2:00 pm and Karen is asking members to meet at the theater by 1:45 pm. Please call, text of email Karen to let her know you are planning to attend at 434-906-7761 or kmock756@gmail.com
Only a few spots remain for the Bee Happy Luncheon on March 27. Join us at OMB (Olde Mecklenburg Brewery) at the Ballantyne Bowl for a delightful luncheon with our guest speaker, Marc Jacobs, who will give us some fun facts about the world of bees. The registration deadline is noon March 20.
Pop-Up Chair Andrea Woods reports there are a few seats left for the Funny Bus on Sunday, April 6, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. You must purchase your own tickets online at the company's website. The link to the bus company is on the NFC calendar. Questions? Contact Andrea at 210-836-4264 or andreawoods567@gmail.com.
In the Know Chair Barbara Evers reminds members the last session for this membership year is featuring Dr. Amy Fletcher at the SouthPark Regional Library on April 11, from 10:00 am-12 noon. Dr. Fletcher has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology in Charlotte for nearly 20 years. She reflects fondly on the time spent with her previous practice, however, the traditional office setting did not provide the type of environment where she had the resources or time to devote to her vision of optimal health. In 2017, she opened Thrive, a comprehensive medical facility that focuses on prevention and addressing the root cause of disease. By offering patients an alternative healthcare setting that embraces Eastern and Western medical modalities, she strives to empower her patients to play an active role in their future health and vitality. Join us for this thought-provoking presentation.
Due to holiday activities, travel schedules and spring break, Appetizers with Friends will be cancelled in April. Lunch Bunch 1 will also be cancelled but Lunch Bunch 2 will proceed as usual.
Save the date of Wednesday, April 30th at 10 am for our fabulous fashion show and member recognition luncheon at Ballantyne Country Club. Please note the day and time change. We will also be voting on the slate of Elected Officers for 2025-2026. This luncheon is not to be missed! Look for the complete details in our April newsletter.
