Good Day, Friends,

April brings new beginnings to the natural world and to our own NFC sphere as well.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank this year's Nominating Committee consisting of Chair Lora Castello, elected board members:  Jeanne Deiger, Jean Rottmann and alternate Angie Glender plus members at large:  Andrea Woods, Lisa Byrne and alternate Carol Rider.  The proposed slate of Elected Officers for 2025-2026 will be announced at the upcoming March membership luncheon.

We all know the adage, "Make new friends, but keep the old.  One is silver and the other gold."  Mark your calendars for the April 30th Silver and Gold Membership Luncheon.  It is a "not-to-be-missed" event to highlight appreciation of YOU, our New Friends of Carolina's membership - both seasoned and recent.  A full day of exciting activities will begin at 10:00 am with socializing upon your arrival at the Ballantyne Country Club.  Our famed Chico's fashion show will begin promptly at 10:30 am.  After the show, we will move to the main dining room where VP of Luncheons, Monica Taft, and I will begin remarks at 12:00 noon.  The proposed 2025-2026 slate of officers will be announced and voted upon.  New members who have joined since June 1, 2024, will be acknowledged by VP of Membership, Marie Shea.  A sumptuous meal described in this newsletter by VP of Luncheons, Monica Taft, will be served and savored amidst a warm, festive atmosphere.

Come join the sisterhood of New Friends to celebrate in grand fashion!  Don't miss this wonderful experience with friends.  The capacity for this luncheon will be 100, thus plenty of room for all.

Debbie Williams, President
New Friends of Carolina

Dr. Fletcher has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Charlotte community for nearly 20 years.  She reflects fondly on her time with her previous practice.  However, the traditional office setting did not provide the type of environment where she had the resources or time to devote to her vision of optimal health.  In 2017, she opened THRIVE, a comprehensive medical facility that focuses on prevention and addressing root cause of disease.  By offering patients an alternative healthcare setting that embraces Eastern and Western medical modalities, she strives to empower them to play an active role in their future health and vitality.  She is uniquely qualified to address health concerns with her breadth of traditional, integrative and functional medicine training.

As a member of the THRIVE experience, Amy strives to form a partnership with her patients to optimize their health and well-being.  Her unique comprehensive approach to wellness inspires clients to achieve vitality and balance in mind, body, and spirit.

Getting to know you...
Debbie Williams
What's your personal motto?
I May, I Might, I Must
If you will tell me why the fen appears impassable,
I then will tell you why I think that I can get across it if I try
Poem by Marianne Moore

If you could live in any era of history, which one would you pick and why?   In the 19th century era of investigative journalism, I would have loved to be a muckraker like Nellie Bly to expose social injustice and travel the world reporting my adventures.

What's the most beautiful thing that you've ever seen?  Nothing equals the beauty of seeing your child's face for the first time.

What's the best part of your day-to-day life?  Walking my dog every morning, family dinners, being gobsmacked by a really good book, planning a new trip right after coming home from one and laughing with friends.

Describe your ideal vacation... There is a difference between a vacation and a trip.  A trip, as my husband used to say, "is hard work as my wife runs me ragged packing as many museums, art galleries, hikes and famous sights in the course of two weeks as humanly possible.

But, ah, a vacation is a beach, a lounge chair, and a great novel.  Oops, did I forget to mention the mojito?
