Weekly President’s Message
May 5, 2025
Good Day, Friends,
- Any member who is in need of reimbursement from the club must present their receipts and reimbursement form (found on the NFC website under "Forms" in Documents) to Treasurer Jean Rottmann on or before May 31 if you expect payment.
- "Monica, you knocked it out of the ballpark," said one of our golden women addressing Vice President of Luncheon Programs Monica Taft regarding the superb Silver & Gold April Membership Recognition Luncheon & Fashion Show drawing nearly 100 members and guests. Many thanks for all the worker bees that made the day possible, including Calendar Manager Cyma Kline, Luncheon Reservations Chair Cinder Shay, Jean Rottmann, Lori Herzhauser, Jeanne Deiger, Sandee Henricks, Mare Walker for her excellent slide show, Marie Shea, Libby Joyce, Diane McCartney, Sheila Collins, Kim Thorpe, Lisa Byrne, and Monya Thomas. Many thanks to our models who rocked the runway, a mix of silver and gold members, Chrys Rhodes, Noelle Picozzi, Pauline Trautman and Lora Castello. The meal was delicious and everyone in attendance received a $15 dollar or 38% discount on it. Look for information below on the upcoming May luncheon which is offering another opportunity to enjoy a significant discounted price in appreciation of your membership.
- A few seats remain for our May 22 luncheon! This is an important membership luncheon meeting for us as we install the newly elected officers for 2025-2026, We are looking forward to seeing you there. Don't miss out, register today!
- Registration for the June 26th membership luncheon will be delayed until June 1st because of the end of our current fiscal year on May 31st and the beginning of our new fiscal year the next day. Due to time constraints involved with the May membership luncheon installation, our guest speaker, Mary McGarvey, has agreed to present her passion for Dress for Success at our June luncheon to be held at Leo's Social Table.
- Also, due to the fiscal year changes, May registrations for new members have been suspended until June 1. Prospective members may still attend two NFC events during May and then join the club beginning June 1st. VP of Membership Marie Shea will be happy to help prospective members through the month of May navigate this new procedure.
- Here are some more reasons to join us for a guided-tour by a Mint docent of renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz's work at the Mint Museum Uptown on Thursday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m..
More reasons:
1.She served as the concert-tour photographer for The Rolling Stones' Tour of America 1975.
2. Her new style of lighting and use of bold color and poses gained her a position at "Vanity Fair" magazine.
3. Her photo of Bill Gates graced the cover of his book, The Road Ahead.
4. She took the photographs for Cyndi Lauper's album covers.
5. Her 1991 cover for "Vanity Fair", a photograph of Demi Moore's seven-month pregnant figure, produced one of the most discussed magazine covers in history.
The cost of the event will be $22 payable to Andrea directly by Venmo, Zelle, check or cash. Questions? Contact Andrea at 210-836-4264 or Andreawoods567@gmail.com
